Production ended in January 2023. For Dodge Daddy, a used Ram parts yard in Ontario's Hamilton Region, they are two different engines that do not interchange. Stellantis rated the 2020 engine at 480 lb-ft at 1,600 rpm, "a 14 percent increase from the previous-generation EcoDiesel V-6", with peak torque arriving 400 rpm earlier, and said "horsepower increases 8 percent to 260 hp at 3,600 rpm". The compression ratio dropped from 16.5:1 to 16.0:1. The engine is built at the FCA Cento plant in Ferrara, Italy, and the trucks at Sterling Heights, Michigan. Stellantis calls it the "previous-generation" engine that it replaced, which is the plain reason a 2014 to 2018 EcoDiesel and a 2020 to 2023 one are different parts. Checked 28 October 2026. ## Will a 2020 EcoDiesel fit my 2016 Ram 1500? Not as a running engine. A 2020 to 2023 EcoDiesel came out of a DT, a different truck with a different frame, harness and engine controller from the 2014 to 2018 DS, and the engine itself is the newer generation. A rebuilder may reuse individual parts, but the engine as pulled does not bolt into a DS and run. That is our reading of the two trucks rather than a Stellantis statement. Buy an EcoDiesel from the same body as your truck: a DS or 2019 Classic engine for a DS, a 2020 to 2023 engine for a DT. Not sure which body you have? On 10 January 2019 the US Department of Justice lodged a consent decree covering "approximately 104,000 model year 2014 to 2016 Jeep" and Ram 1500 vehicles with 3.0-litre EcoDiesel engines, which the government alleged contained undisclosed software defeat devices. The decree required Fiat Chrysler to offer owners an "Approved Emissions Modification" through a recall, with an extended warranty, and to keep offering it for eighteen years. It is a United States case. For a truck in Canada, a Ram dealer can check the VIN for any open campaign before you buy. The VIN: the eighth character is the engine code, and NHTSA's free decoder names the engine ([how to read it](https://dodgedaddy.ca/guides/how-to-read-a-ram-1500-vin/)). The fuel door: a diesel truck has a second filler for diesel exhaust fluid beside the fuel filler. And the badges: the trucks carry EcoDiesel badging on the body. The VIN is the one to trust, because badges get swapped and removed. ## Does Dodge Daddy sell EcoDiesel engines?
